How they are similar

Assistants Asset Factories Both Collage's Contributor Assistants and Cascade Server's Asset Factories are designed to provide an easy way for end-users to create new content of a pre-defined type. For example, in Cascade, you may have a "course listing" asset factory, which would generate a pre-structured and defined page for easy content entry from end-users.
Deploy Publish Both Collage's notion of "deployment" and Cascade Server's notion of publishing refer to the process of pushing system assets to a web server.
Contribution Documents & Contribution Folders Data Definitions/Pages/Content Types & Folders In Serena Collage, Contribution Documents and Contribution Folders are used to describe the system assets and their location for content contributors. Collage's Contribution Folders do not represent site architecture or structure, but rather are holding bins used to categorize types of Contribution Documents. Contribution Folders are exposed to contributors independently from the Deploy Folder Structure, which is used to dictate site architecture. In contrast, Cascade Server's folder structure defines the architecture of a website. For example, if you have a base folder with folders for "News," "Company," and "Products," you will also likely have main sections of your site and navigational elements related to each of these folders as well.
Document Type
Content Type
Serena Collage's notion of Contribution Document Types refers to pre-defined page/asset types that make it easier for end users to contribute content. In Collage, these document types are defined by a definition file and a layout file. The definition file dictates the structure of the document type, and the layout file determines how the document type should be formatted. Cascade Server provides similar functionality via its Content Types. Content Types bring together configuration sets, metadata sets, and data definitions (structured data) into a single component that is used to define page types. Administrators can make any and all content types available to different users, groups, and roles. Those who have access will be able to select which Content Type to apply to a page.
Tasks
Assets in Workflow at any given step
Serena Collage uses tasks to define new/existing content that is being sent through workflow. For example, if John is responsible for creating a new faculty page, the task is the creation of that new faculty page. In Cascade Server, the notion of tasks relates to any assets being sent through workflow. Users are able to push any system assets to be created or edited through the workflow process with the ability to include as many users and steps in the workflow process.
Deploy Folders (directory structure)
Folder structure/Site Scaffold
The Deploy Folder structure in Collage refers to the means used by Collage to organize site architecture. In Cascade Server, there is a folder tree which visually shows the hierarchy and structure of any site being managed in the system.
Root Deploy Folder
Base Folder
Both Serena Collage's Root Deploy Folder and Cascade Server's Base Folder refer to the top-level folder in which site content is organized.
States
Workflow Triggers/Steps
States in Serena Collage relate to workflow steps in Cascade Server. Both notions refer to the phase of the workflow process that the asset in workflow is in.
User Types/Roles
Role
Serena Collage has a few predefined user roles in the system that dictate a users permissions in the CMS. However, there is no real notion of roles within Serena Collage. User types most closely relate to roles in Cascade Server. However, in Cascade Server, unlimited roles can be created and customized to specifically grant/limit access and permissions in the system. Furthermore, Cascade Server also provides contextual roles, which allow users to have different roles when working within different Sites in Cascade.
